West Bengal Sarathi Scheme 2026: Bicycle Distribution for Class 9th Girl Students

The previous Chief Minister of West Bengal started a Bicycle Distribution Scheme with the name of Sabooj Sathi Scheme in 2015. Under which government distribute the bicycle to the girl students of the 9^th class. But now the new government of West Bengal has renamed this scheme with its new name, i.e. Sarathi Scheme. Now, after rebranding this old scheme, the government is also going to conduct the verification of the fresh profiles of the students, so that all the genuine students will get the bicycle at distribution time.

The verification of the students’ profiles will be done by the head of the school, and they have to update all the fresh details about the students if required. Then, after completing the verification, the government conduct the Bicycle distribution at the block or Municipal levels all over the state.

Government now rebranding the old bicycle distribution scheme of West Bengal. In this scheme, the government distributed bicycles to the 9th class students. And now all the heads of the schools are required to visit the official portal of the Government, i.e. Sarathi Portal, and then complete the verification of the students profile.

This scheme is launched to improve the education quality, and after getting the bicycle, the students can easily access education. Most of the time, if school is far away from home, then it becomes difficult for the girl students to come to school. By providing bicycles to the girl students, the government also wants to encourage the students to pursue higher education.

Not only this, but the state government also promotes mobility among girl students, and an eco-friendly transportation system is also available for them. Parents are also not much worried about sending their girl child to school due to the long distance. With the help of a bicycle, they can easily come to school on time.

Objective of Scheme

By providing the bicycle to the girl students, the government wants to reduce the dropout rate of the girl students from school for higher education. Now education has become more accessible, and parents are also encouraged to send their girl child to school for secondary education. Reaching school on time, it will also increase the attendance rate of the students.

This scheme also plays a very important role for those students who come to school from remote areas of the state. Now, with the help of this transportation system, students go to school regularly.

West Bengal Bicycle Distribution Scheme Verification Process

With the change of the new name of the old scheme from Sabooj Sathi to Sarathi Scheme, the government also directed all the heads of schools to complete the Fresh Profile verification process of the 9th class students.

• The heads of the schools have to visit the Sarathi Portal of West Bengal and then, using their credentials, need to Login.
• Then have to verify the fresh profile of the 9th class students.
• At the time of verification, they have to verify whether the current address of the students and mobile number is correct or not. If not, then they have to change the same with the Fresh Data.
• Apart from the above, the government also have to verify that students have previously received the benefit of a similar scheme from the state and central government.
• Then, after putting all the details to complete this verification process, the school authority has to submit and then finalise the verification.
• Once you update the profile verification with fresh data, you can not make changes to the same.

NOTE: It is important to complete the verification process before the approval.

Who Are Eligible To Get Bicycle?

• Female students of West Bengal State.
• Eligible students must be enrolled in any government-aided or government-run school.
• You are students of 9th of the academic year 2026.
