This portal was launched in the previous Mamata Banerjee government in the 2024-25 financial year. The main purpose behind the launch of this portal is to provide 50 jobs to each job card holder under the Unskilled worker category.

If you want to register for the Mahatmashree scheme, then it is done through your gram panchayat. You can visit your gram panchayat or block office for registration.
The name karmashree.wb.gov.in has now been changed to Mahatmashree. This is work under the Department of Panchayats and Rural Development. The data entry for the financial year 2026-27 has already started on 24th April 2026
