Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mr Suvendu Adhikari, took another step toward fulfilling a promise and launched the Mukhyamantri Swasthya Bima Yojana from 28 July 2026. This Chief Minister’s Health Scheme of West Bengal will come into effect after the official announcement. In this MMSBY, eligible families will get health coverage of Rs.5 lakh. In this scheme, the health coverage benefits are given to families who are not covered under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, which is already implemented in the state.

And the official notification to implement this scheme was also released by the government to the different health agencies of the state. In the notification, the government declared that the resident citizens of the WB state who are not covered under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana will be covered in this MMSBY. Eligible Families having an annual income of more than rupees 8 Lakh per year, along with them the government employees and pensioners, will also be covered in the state.

But the senior citizens of the state who are aged 70 years or above are excluded from this scheme, because they are eligible to get the benefits from the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
