West Bengal Free Bus Travel Scheme For Women: Eligibility & Requirements

To provide safe and free travel to women in West Bengal, the government rolled new scheme in the month of June with its official name, i.e. West Bengal Free Bus Travel Scheme. People also know this scheme by another name i.e. WB Pink Card Scheme. This scheme provides the benefits of free bus travel in all the state government-operated buses in all over the state. By using these free bus travel facilities, women can easily reduce the financial burden that they spend on their daily transport for visiting to their educational institute, for their workplace, their personal visit like in hospitals and markets etc.

West Bengal Free Bus Travel Scheme For Women

Now, when any woman goes outside her house to travel anywhere they want, like for their educational purposes for job or for any other reason, now women don’t need to buy the Bus tickets. Without paying any kind of tickets price, they can travel through all the state-run buses. Before this scheme, women have to pay the tickets price, but now by getting free travel, the daily commuting financial burden also been reduced. This scheme is launched for women so that they all can easily access all government services, visit to hospitals for their healthcare, travel for their education and job place.

The government not only provide them free bus travel but also ensures their safety and security to empower them. If you are also a woman of West Bengal then can access the free bus travel benefit by the government. This is the Initial stage of the scheme, so till date the government don’t invites any kind of application. You just have to use any Photo Identity Card while travelling and show when the officials ask for it. Then after verifying the beneficiaries with their identity card, they issue you zero tickets.

• At present you can only avail the benefits of free travel in all state-run buses by showing your any id card which contained the photograph.
• But later, the government also announced that they introduced a dedicated Travel Smart Card which is also known as Pink Smart Card for women.
• Government of West Bengal implemented this scheme with the Transport Department of the state.

Women can only travel through all the government or government-aided buses run in the state. Private buses are not covered in this scheme.

• Any Photo Identity Card issued by the Government like Voter ID Card, Aadhaar Card, Driving Licence and PAN Card also.
• Your employment or Job Card
• School or other educational Institute ID Card
• Any other documents showing your citizenship of the state and your identity issued by the government.

Pink Smart Card

Government also going to provide the Pink Smart Card to women, in which the government records all the digital records of the women. This card contains the photo of the woman and QR Code in it. Bus Conductor TAP or scans the QR Code and then issues them tickets.
